Every writer has a different way of getting a story off the ground. Some start with a fully outlined plot, while others begin with a single idea and discover the story as they go.

Personally, I take a structured approach. I map out the entire story first—starting with the major events, then breaking those down into chapters before I begin writing. It gives me a clear path from beginning to end and helps prevent writer’s block since I always know what comes next.

There’s no single “right” way to start, which is part of what makes storytelling so interesting. Some writers outline everything in advance, while others prefer to write freely and see where the story leads.

What’s your approach to starting a story?
